Acrylic surface tubs can store water longer. Chemicals and salts can be used, but only with a dispenser. The guarantee is not given if the amount of chemicals is exceeded.

Gelcoat and acrylic are only surface material. The body itself is reinforced with a mixture of fiberglass and polyester resin.

Gelcoat is a colored paint that is sprayed onto a mold and then reinforced with fiberglass saturated with polyester resin. Unlike acrylic, gelcoat is not a solid material, so it does not have insulation by itself, and is less resistant to scratches and cracks. Being more porous and brittle than acrylic, the gelcoat/fiberglass surface tends to fade and discolor over time.

Gelcoat's surface is not resistant to salts and chemicals, so the warranty is not given when using salts and various chemicals. It is not recommended to leave water in the gelcoat liner tubs for more than 2-3 weeks, as the osmosis process may start. The water must be drained and the liner dried.
